Indian table tennis player Manika Batra crashed out of the WTT Champions Chongqing tournament after losing in straight games to Hong Kong’s Doo Hoi Kem in the first round at the Huaxi LIVE Yudong Arena on Wednesday.
Doo took only just over 27 minutes to win the match 11-8, 11-6, 11-7 and enter the Round of 16.
Earlier, the only other Indian in the competition, Sreeja Akula, also bowed out after losing Japan’s Satsuki Odo 11-4, 11-8, 11-6.

After starting the match strongly and taking the lead, Manika slowly lost her rhythm and lost five straight points. From then on, it was easy pickings for Doo who used the momentum to seal the game.
This was Manika’s first event after her Singapore Smash first round loss against Romanian Elizabeta Samara earlier this year.
