Gujarat Giants parts ways with coach Ram Mehar Singh after failing to reach PKL 11 playoffs

The Gujarat Giants announced on Tuesday that coach Ram Mehar Singh will not continue with the team from the upcoming season.

β€œAn era comes to an end. Thank you, Coach Ram Mehar Singh, for building a team of Giants with passion and purpose,” the team stated on its social media platform.

A recipient of the Arjuna Award, Ram Mehar began his coaching career in 2004 with the Indian Air Force and Services teams, later serving as Deputy Sports Director of Haryana, where he oversaw all sports activities in Gurugram.

From 2009 to 2014, Ram Mehar coached the Indian Kabaddi Team. His accolades include the Swabhiman Award, the Bhim Award, and Best Sportsman Awards from the Services (all in 2001), as well as the Best Sportsman Award from the Air Force in 1999.

In the Pro Kabaddi League, Ram Mehar led the Patna Pirates to victory in Season 5, having previously served as assistant coach during its first championship win.
