Table Tennis Super League (TTSL), an initiative by Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT), is set to commence with its Maharashtra edition on April 3 at NSCI in Mumbai.
The tournament, comprising six franchise-backed teams and 36 players chosen from across Maharashtra through an auction, will culminate on April 6. The winner will receive Rs 3.5 lakhs out of the total prize pool of Rs 6.25 lakhs.
The participating teams will feature six players from six categories: Under-13 Boys, Under-17 Boys, Under-17 Girls, Men’s, Women’s, and Veteran.
The featuring six teams include Century Warriors, Ping Panthers, PBG Pune Jaguars, Mumbai Mozartt, Phantom Stars, and Bayside Spinners TTC.
The auction will take place on March 8. The teams will have a player pool of 68 players to pick from and a bidding purse of Rs 2.5 lakhs.
“TTSL is another key cog in the machine for us to strengthen the foundation for table tennis in the country. The tournament comes back after 2019 to provide state-level players a competitive opportunity in front of home crowd and a pathway to higher levels of the sport. TTSL Maharashtra is a building block in this mission, and the aim is to take this across states,” Vita Dani, co-promoter, UTT, said.
